DANCE CAVISE NEWS

Friends, As the fall winds down and we look to the months ahead, we think about how much our lives have changed this year. The events of September

holiday show
What started as a small concert to celebrate the new studio has turned into an annual event. "Holiday 2001", hosted by The Off Center Dance Theatre Youth Ensemble, will feature Dance Cavise students and staff singing and dancing some traditional and not-so traditional holiday tunes. This year's concert, held in our own cozy studio, will be on Wed., December 12th at 6:30 PM.. Admission is free, but any donations collected will benefit the OCDT Youth Ensemble.

Director Joe Cavise made a surprise appearance "dancing" with Gabriela Barretto in a classical number.

news from the north
Dance Cavise North has been bustling with activity since our doors opened in September. Most recently, jazz teacher Adelle Binelli asked some of her students to participate in a national dance video for Pepsi, which Ms. Binelli is choreographing.
We also applaud Claire Aversa, Maria Arena and Sara Walker for doing a great job behind the front desk!

11th will change the way we think, live, and plan for the future. Our first concern is for the children. They are the innocent by-standers that should be protected at all costs. Their lives should feel as little stress of today's problems as possible. They should go to school, play, laugh, sing, dance, and have as much fun as possible.

We have been encouraged by many of our public figures to keep our lives as consistent as possible. All of us at Dance Cavise intend to do just that. We will not stop dancing. We will not discuss any negative events of the days and we will try especially hard to keep our environment as happy, fun and safe as possible.

Dance can brighten all of our lives, especially for our children. You will witness on Parent's Day how much the children have learned and accomplished during these few months.

We wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season. Get cozy in front of the fire and have your children DANCE for you.
As always,

Joe and Lori Cavise

youth ensemble update
Congratulations to the Off Center Dance Theatre Youth Ensemble 2002! The Ensemble was created for students who want to make a serious commitment to dance performance. Parent's Day
is a chance for parents and family to observe their child in a classroom setting. Remind your children that this is NOT a performance to ease any anxiety they may feel. Dance Cavise will be holding Parent's Days for most classes in January 2002. You will be receiving information and dates about your child's class before the holiday vacation. Please remember that space is limited so let's try to keep Parent's Days for PARENTS ONLY.

This year's schedule includes performances at The Blythedale Children's Hospital, The Atrium in Stamford, The Pelham Manor Club Benefit, and several public schools. If you are interested in having the Youth Ensemble for a workshop, please call us at Dance Cavise.

This editorial is from 14 year old
Matt Alexander,
who is aspiring to become a professional dancer.

A couple of years ago I discovered that I had a natural talent for dance. I started dancing as a hobby, which eventually developed into a passion for the performing arts. So I then decided to bring my ambition to Dance Cavise. Being the only male student in classes full of females has been a challenge happily met. In just the past year I have become part of the Dance Cavise family, who have helped me to refine my craft. Most recently I joined a jazz class to receive technical training which will assist me in reaching my goal of becoming a professional hip hop dancer as well as choreographer. I want to thank Joe Cavise and my dance instructors, Kim and Anne Marie for their encouragement and support.

Happy Birthday To You...
"It's Somebody's Birthday Today...."
We would like to extend a
"HappyBirthday" to the following Dance Cavise family members:
DECEMBER
Lori Biscardi-Cavise -December 14th

JANUARY
Joe Cavise-January 7th
Kerry Gallagher -January 20th

Congratulations to Dance Cavise dance and vocal coach Danielle Altieri and fiance Gee Valdes Jr. on their recent engagement. The happy couple plan to wed in October 2002.

Tasty Tidbits
Stewed Beef With Mushrooms
(An Italian specialty direct from Adelle Binelli's recent visit with her Mama in Rome.
We hope our translation is "buono")

Ingredients:
650 gr. Rump of beef
2 carrots (cut into chunks)
100gr. Cooked ham (cut into cubes)
one clove garlic (pressed)
200gr. Marns white mushrooms (cut into slices)
¼ liter of red wine
2 big onions (thinly sliced)
½ Cup of olive oil

Put meat in a large stockpot with the cooked ham, olive oil, garlic, onions, carrots. Add some salt and pepper to taste and let it sear slightly over a medium flame, until the onions are transparent). At this point, add the wine, let it evaporate by 1/3 on a brisk fire. Lower the flame and let the meat cook for 2 hrs or until tender. Meanwhile, clean and add the mushrooms to the stew and let them cook for half an hour. Serve the meat cut into slices and covered with its sauce. Enjoy…Mangia!
