DANCE CAVISE NEWS

From The Director
The New Year is a time to reflect on the past and look to the future ahead. That is our feeling at Dance Cavise. Last year at this time, project. Now that our building has been beautifully renovated, we are looking for ways to expand our programs as well.

This year, we are offering our first MINI Camp at Dance Cavise. If you are not going away during the school break, you might consider having your child experience the performing arts at our Mini "day camp". The camps will be offered during the winter and spring school vacations. Look for more info in this newsletter.

We are adding a new special feature to our National Dance Week programs: "Bring A Friend To Dance". Adults and children alike can bring a friend all week to experience the excitement of dance. Look inside for info on "National Dance Week".

Following the incredible success of last year's "Camp Cavise", we are planning this year's production m a real theatre again. We hope you'll join us.

Finally, all of us in the Dance Cavise family wish all of you and yours a peaceful and healthy new year ahead.

As always,
JOE and LORI

Dance Cavise Studios has been the home Center Dance Theatre since its inception in 1991. We are now dedicating a permanent garden walk for Off Center at Dance Cavise
YOU can be a part of it by having your family or child's name engraved on a brick for this walk-way. All proceeds will benefit this not-for-profit company and will help us continue our mission of community outreach. For more information call 914 381-8080 or pick up materials at Dance Cavise.

KID'S KORNER

Former Dance Cavise student, Jessica Best, is now an "American Girl" in NYC!!

It was a Friday night and the phone rang. It was Eva, from American Girl, and she wanted to talk to my mom. My heart started beating really fast when my mom screamed, "Molly, you got Molly!" I was so overjoyed, I was walking on air. I started rehearsals right away and am now performing live on stage at "The American Girl Place" on 5th Avenue/ 49th Street, in New York City. It has been the experience of a lifetime. At the auditions, we had to sing, dance, and act. Even though I didn't have much tap experience, I felt confident that I had solid dance training from Dance Cavise and I'd be able to pull it off. The tap combination was tricky, but I just smiled and did my best.... AND I GOT IT!!! I even have a tap solo at the end of the show! Being in the show demands a lot of time and effort, so in order to be fully committed, I had to make a decision between taking dance and doing the show. I decided that since this was a dream come true for me, I wouldn't be able to continue taking dance classes at Dance Cavise. Even though I miss dancing, I have met many wonderful people in the show. All the adults were extremely welcoming towards me and have trained me to become a stronger actor. The child actors m the show have become a family to me. Performing in the show is like having a playdate with my friends ...a real blast!! I want to thank Joe and my teachers at Dance Cavise for preparing me for my BIG BREAK. My mom says that what you have given me is PRICELESS.
