Lisa Hopkins, now working on a Broadway project, will be teaching a Musical Theatre workshop later this month. And Irina Dvorovenko, Principal dancer with American Ballet Theatre will teach our third Master class, in March. OCDT Invites You Off Center Dance Theatre (OCDT), a not-for-profit organization, will host AN INVITATION TO DANCE, a dance concert mixing choreographers and dance companies from the tri-state area. The evening concert will feature OCDT and guests from The American Ballet Theatre, Boston Ballet, Momix and Perkes Dance Music Theatre. "In addition to the choreographers working within our company," Mr. Cavise says, "we also invite other dance companies to perform with us on stage. The result is a concert with absolute diversity, showing that dance can be anything É boundless." The afternoon show will feature OCDT, and its' Youth Ensemble, who will INVITE children from the audience up on stage for an interactive dance workshop immediately following the concert. "My five year old was dancing next to someone from ABT." said one of the parents after last year's show. "Where else can you experience this in Westchester?" Tickets are $15 for the 2pm Matinee, and $20 and $25 for the 8PM Evening performance. For ticket information, call the Performing Arts Center box office at (914) 251-6222. For additional info, call the Dance Cavise Studios at (914) 381-5222. |

at "Camp Cavise". We are looking for four "camp counselors" for our seven-week
program from June 25th through August 9th. Duties include writing the
camp song and help to develop camp theme days and activities. You will
escort campers to and from classes (all indoors at Dance Cavise Studios)
and have a great time being a buddy to campers. If you are interested,
please contact Jamie Himpel at the studio as soon as possible.
There
is still time to register for "Camp Cavise 2001". Campers will study all
the performing arts, backstage skills, plus take two trips to Broadway.
"Camp Cavise 2001" , from June 25th through August 9th, meets Monday through
Thursday, 10AM Ð 3:30 PM. At the end of each session, campers will produce
and perform in an original production. This year we have added
a new 5 year- old program for children entering kindergarten. Our
young stars will be with us from 11AM through 2PM in their own special
group.
Westchester
County's Dept of Public Works has scheduled renovation work for the Halstead
Avenue Bridge outside our studio. They must access the bridge from property
adjacent to our studios. Parents and students will be asked to enter and exit our parking lot by making right turns only, (traveling one way on Halstead Avenue, from south to north only). Maps will be available at the front desk if you have any questions. This renovation is necessary for safety reasons and, though it is inconvenient, will benefit us all. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU... "It's Somebody's Birthday Today...." We would like to extend a "Happy Birthday" to the following Dance Cavise family members:

KIDS' KORNER By
Taylor Sirabella Ð 9 years old I take dance class with Mr. Cavise in Bedford on Friday afternoons. I never thought I could dance as well as I do and love learning all the moves Mr. Cavise teaches us. It's also fun to hear music not just from the radio, but also Broadway Show music. It's fun to learn with Mr. Cavise because he teaches us right from wrong dance moves in a funny way. He doesn't seem like a teacher, but before you know it you are learning a lot from him. At first I was nervous to dance solos in the class, but after one time Mr. Cavise made us all fell very relaxed and now we love to dance alone when it is our turn. Another thing I like about my dance class is that we all get a turn in each dance to get Mr. Cavise's attention. In every dance I think each child feels like they are in the spotlight even though we are in a group. I would like to continue to take Mr. Cavise's dance class for a long time. |
