Dear Friends, Another season has come and gone much to quickly again. After a wonderful summer filled with excited Camp Cavise Campers, this fall will mark a new beginning for us. Many of our advanced dancers are now off to college. Lori and I feel like "empty nesters" already. As we do for all of our dancers, we wish them luck in their future endeavors and we will miss them dancing around our studio. As you know, last
season we hired many new teachers. We are thrilled that many of them will
be back with us this fall. I am personally looking forward to our staff
meetings where they will bring an exciting new energy and insight to our
discussions. Many teachers are currently teaching at Broadway Dance Center
and STEPS Studio in NYC, and I know they will bring that experience and
knowledge into our studio. We welcome our newest faculty members, Joshua
Widick and Wendi Bergstrom. Josh will be teaching "Turns & Jumps"
and "Lyrical" for our advanced dancers and Wendi will be teaching
in our Vista location. On another note, we have been in discussion with the Village of Mamaroneck's Traffic Commission regarding our drop-off and pick-up procedures during the after-school hours. We will be implementing a new procedure during the coming months, on a trial basis, to see if we can better assist our parents in making this process easier. For one month, we will remove five parking meters in the front of our building, and designate them as a "drop-off and pickup" lane during the hours of 3-6PM. There will be NO parking in these spaces as they will be used for vehicles to exit traffic for a few minutes to drop off ONLY. We want to keep Dance Cavise as safe as possible, and hope this will help some of our traffic issues. Don't forget to visit our website, www.dancecavise.com. We have recently developed a PHOTO gallery on the site which will be updated with NEW photos periodically. Have a great fall
season. |

We're Singin' and Dancin', everyday at Camp Cavise! What a summer it was at Camp Cavise. The studios were overflowing with dance, drama and song . Our campers produced and performed in two original productions, and went on field trips including Broadway's Thoroughly Modern Millie. We met and chatted with the stars of the show, including Tony Award Winner Sutton Foster. If you missed out on Camp Cavise this year, mark your calender for sign-up in January 2003. Space is always limited.

This
issues Kid's Korner features quotes from our "What I liked Best About Camp Cavise..." "I like camp because you can stay forever. First, a student, then a counselor, then Head Counselor, then a teacher." - Fiona Cavise, age 9 "I like Camp Cavise because it teaches me about stage performance."-Camille Swersky, age 9 "I love Camp Cavise because I love dancing with all of my friends." Susanna Wach, age 8 "One of the many reasons Camp Cavise is awesome is how much fun is to put on the show!"-Carly DeFeis, age 13 "Camp Cavise is inspiring because of the way the teachers teach. The counselors set great examples."- Cali Kurlan, age 9 "I love Camp Cavise because I love to dance very much."-Arielle Joselson, age 7 "Camp Cavise helps me to be stretched and ready for the school year in September." - Jordie Lesser-Roy, age 10 "I
love Camp Cavise because
I made new friends." |
Get Fit...Not Fat We've all heard
the recent headlines about the rising rates of obesity among adults
and children. We at Dance Cavise cannot stress enough our belief that
everyone can get involved in some form of physical activity for their
health and well-being. For those people that don't love to dance (hard
to believe, I know), we are now offering a KIDS-WORKOUT and KICKFIT
. The Kids-Workout is geared toward children ages 10-13, a critical
time during their growing period. We hope to help make them aware of
the importance of a regular exercise routine in their life. This class,
offered on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30 PM, will address all the components
of fitness, strength, cardiovascular exercise and stretch, all while
having fun! This class will be taught by AFAA certified fitness instructor
Delia McGovern. Adults can jump into Kickfit , an intense aerobic class
emphasizing upper body toning. This class is offered on Friday mornings
at 9:30 and is taught by Annie Zerega. |
