Hi Everybody,
Another summer has gone by so fast, yet it has been a wonderful time for
our family to be together. Our two girls were in 'Camp Cavise' and it
was a treat for us to watch them grow as dancers and people. This past
season brought many changes. We welcomed a new baby, witnessed two weddings,
and are looking forward to a third this fall. These wonderful beginnings
however, bring sad farewells. We want to wish Kerry Gallager, Kim Gaita
and Grace Harvey much happiness as they move on to new ventures. We also
wish Luci Rainova the best as she teaches full-time in New York City.
We want to welcome our newest
teachers, many who will bring their New York City energy to our studio
this fall. You can read more about them inside the newsletter. Dance Cavise,
now with over 900 students in two locations, is constantly expanding.
We have added more Modern and Hip-Hop classes as well as specialty classes
like Character and Turns and Jumps. We will offer master classes with
NYC pros all year long. We are constantly updating our syllabus to reflect
the stronger abilities of our students as we continue our search for new
and innovative teaching techniques.
This coming year will be the first year that we have seen students grow
from pre-school to graduating high school. After our 14th year, we have
finally completed the 'full circle' of a child's development. Thank you
to all of our clients who have helped make that happen.
Take care,
Joe and Lori

Cavise...means Baseball?

to them continuing their winning streak this spring. Go Broadway Batters!

Kid's Korner
This issues Kid's Korner features
advanced dancer and
Youth Ensemble member, Lauren Jasinski. She writes of her experience this
summer at the Alvin Ailey Summer Intensive.
I have just completed the Alvin
Ailey Summer Intensive Program in New York City. I knew that it would
be a rigorous eight weeks, but I did not realize just how difficult it
was going to be until I got there. I signed up to take 15 classes a week
and five different techniques.
The hour long commute after four and a half hours of very intense hard
work seemed endless every day. Somehow, I managed to get up every morning
with sore muscles and make it through the day. Every day, I learned something
new. Despite the fact that the classes were so large, I was happy to be
noticed and get corrections from teachers. The most important thing that
I realized this summer is how hard it is to be a professional dancer.
You have to really want it because it is such a time committment. I know
that I would not have spent the past eight weeks in scorcing hot, sweaty
studios if I didn't love to dance. I don't feel like I missed out on my
summer fun because I had the chance to learn new techniques from new teachers.
For the next three weeks before school I can sit back and relax completely
satisfied with my hard work. I look forward to sharing my experiences
with my friends and fellow dance students at Dance Cavise.

productions. If you missed out on Camp Cavise this year, mark your calender
