Fall 2001 VOLUME 7.0
DANCE
CAVISE NEWS
|
Letter From the DirectorDear Friends, As we head into fall, we look back on a wonderful summer at Dance Cavise. Our year-end Student Showcase exceeded our expectations. Parents are still coming into the studio with words of praise. Thank you to our staff and all the dancers who worked so hard. This summer at Camp Cavise marked another personal milestone for our family. Our daughters, Fiona and Phoebe, danced and sang together for the first time as "Little Dippers". It is truly amazing to see all of our work at the studio come "full circle" with our daughters performing for us. The time went by so fast and the kids are already talking about next year! Finally, we have been extra busy this year preparing for the fall season in two locations. Dance Cavise North, located in South Salem, has been registering students all summer and will open its doors on September 10th with a full dance program. We are as enthusiastic opening this studio as we were thirteen years ago with the first one. We hope you had a great summer and are looking forward to an even better fall. Joe and Lori Cavise |

CAMP CAVISE 2001!The summer of 2001 was our busiest yet at Camp Cavise. With our record number of students, we took two field trips to Broadway and performed two original productions. Our campers traveled to New York City to see Beauty and The Beast and 42nd Street. After having lunch at Planet Hollywood, they were given the opportunity of meeting and talking to the stars after the show. Besides having a wonderful time, our campers did serious dance and vocal training in order to show off their skills at performance time. The productions were written and performed by the campers, who also created the sets and costumes. We thank our counselors, Christina Anson, Kate Parlato, Paul Rigano, and Rachel Crowe for a job well done. See everyone next summer! |

Advanced dancers, Estee Fremont
and Jamie Bagliebter, write about their summer dance experience away
from home.
Jamie: For the past eleven years, I've always associated dance with the Dance Cavise Studios, the Dance Cavise teachers, and the Dance Cavise style. Through all my years of dance I have been spoiled with the individualized attention and comfortable atmosphere of the Dance Cavise classes. This luxury became the largest cause of my shock when I began my summer at The American Academy of Dance at Vassar College.
Estee: Although I was well prepared after my many years at Dance Cavise, the atmosphere was different there. It was intimidating to see so many girls, who were determined to be the best. At the same time, it was wonderful to have them share the same passion that I had.
Jamie: One thing that frustrated me was the fact that the classes were so large. Being in classes of nearly forty students, it is far more difficult to gain the teacher's attention or get personal corrections.
Estee: It was quite different from Dance Cavise where teachers knew me so well and always tried to give corrections. I learned, however, to take general corrections on improving minor details that added up to large improvements on my technique.
Jamie: Overall, my experience at Vassar was one of the most rewarding I've had. I must admit, however, that it feels great to be back in the comfortable and safe environment of Dance Cavise.
